Brian has been a West Country resident all his life.  Born in 1973, his passion for photography started in 1992 when he used to go fishing on the Somerset Levels.  Over time, he found he gained more pleasure from seeing the wildlife than catching the fish!  He subsequently sold his fishing gear and bought his first camera, an EOS5000 with an assortment of lenses, and a photographer was born!  He has used a digital SLR for many years and uses Canon professional equipment to produce the staggering results you can see today.

Brian often spends hours researching a location, which means less time waiting around in hides at the wrong times when you could be other places. He owes a lot to friends and general tip-offs from members of the public and organisations as to wildlife whereabouts. The West Country has an amazing diversity of subjects from Red Deer to Field Voles, and Brian feels very lucky to have such a wide choice within a 20-minute drive from home.

His passion for the natural world has always been in his blood, regularly doing photographic work for the world famous Secret World Animal Rescue Centre on a voluntary basis.

Brian is extremely proud to say that almost all the subjects in his images are taken in the wild, more often than not turning down captive subjects in order to wait until the opportunity arises with a wild encounter. Most of the captive subjects have been taken for Secret World or if a commission requires them. The welfare of the subject is paramount and under no circumstances are the animals put under stress or their habitat disturbed. When necessary, the appropriate Schedule 1 licence has been used.
